This fabulous kayaking trip is a selfguided tour through the mangroves north of Cape Santa Maria and opening out to the incredible blues of the "Blue Lagoon".

Starting at the boat ramp just 500 metres north of the track turn off to Columbus Monument on Queen's Hwy, the kayak trip takes you through the mangroves either by guided map or with Rodney through to the Blue Lagoon - a journey of about 40 minutes each direction. Once there, simply explore the lagoon, picnic and swim/snorkel before returning to the same location for pickup.

For the moderately fit, you should find 3 hours is ample to get to the Lagoon and back however if you wish to bring a packed lunch, suntan lotion and stay the whole day, please do so! 

Bottled water and soft drinks can be purchased through Mr. Rodney Gibson on request.

 

 

LEVEL OF ACTIVITY REQUIRED: Enough to paddle for 3 hours

MINIMUM AGE: 15 yrs and older. Although life jackets are provided, participants must be old enough and capable of swimming/floating

WHERE TO MEET: Meeting at the dock just north of Cape Santa Maria on the Queen's highway (see below map), Rodney will meet you and have your kayaks ready in the water at the appointed time. Please let him know when you will be back or organize to call if you have a local phone at least 15 minutes before.

PICK UP: If you require a pickup by taxi, this can be arranged through our transportation section. Please simply go to Transportation section.

WHAT TO BRING: Suntan lotion, swimming costume, waterproof bag, waterproof camera, insect repellent, hat, towel and some water & munchies!

GUIDED TOUR: Should you wish to have a guide, Rodney will take you for the cost of an extra rental ($40).

ABOUT THE TOUR OPERATOR: Rodney is a former school teacher in Long Island and has the patience that shows that. He also operates a typical local Bahamian diner, so if you are wanting a cold beer or drink and a fresh conch salad after your trip, just let him know!
